Is it important to learn about science these days...even if you are not going to be a scientist? Why or why not? Let me know what you think!

It is important to learn about science because science is in everything....its in the food you eat, the medicine you take, and the news you listen to.

Well said, Keaghn! Sometimes the science around us is amazing, especially those volcanos! And I love big snow storms!

I completely agree with what you are saying. Like math, science is in everything. Such as in an apple grove, you find a squashed apple lying on the ground. The dirt on the apple where the foot had been could have identified, if properly processed, the person who had stomped on it. It could also identify the type of shoe that had been on the apple, because of the chemicals needed tomake the shoe.

Great thought, Tammy! Science need not always be BIG...sometimes its the little things right under our feet...

I think it is important to learn about science because ''people'' would like to learn about updates that are someway related to science.....for example...if the world is going to end in 12-12-2012?<3<3<3

I think that it is very important to learn about science because you can learn about the diferent things that are in the air and what you are breathing in everyday. also the things that they put in water and food. Like the fast food places we don't know what is in that food that they serve us. i recently learned that for the Mcdonalds McDoubles aren't beef it is finely ground up meel worms that are ground up so well that it passes the fda food regulations as ground beef. Any way it is very important to learn about sience.

This is a great real-world example, Taylor. I wonder what the FDA has to say about this??

science IS important. eveything is composed of science. for instance, the human body is composed of cells.thats science isnt it?

Well said, Katt! I wonder if we could think of anything that is NOT composed of science....??

I think that science is very important because we all need to learn about things like for example what makes something living or non living, science shows us what people think and the reasons they think that way. It also helps us find our own oppinons in the world of science. Science is everywhere in the world and to completely understand our world we need science.

Ah, yes, psychology....the science behind what people think and the reasons they think that way. This is one of my favorites :-) Why DO people think the way they do, anyways??

Absolutely! science is VERY important! whether you're a forensic pathologist (yes i mean you, Tamara! xD) or an optimistic environmentalist. even 4-year-olds - unknowingly - use science. think about this: how many people accross the globe use a computer? even THAT is science! without science, we wouldn't even HAVE computers - or televisions, phones, gameboys, playstations, etc., etc.! science is even in our names: SCIENCE fiction, christian SCIENCE(a religion) - SCIENCE IS EVERYWHERE. SCIENCE. IS. LIFE.

Neat connection to engineering...science gives us the information to solve problems and build things...like computers, phones, etc. etc. And, yes, ever watch a child? They DO science! Can anyone think of some good examples?
